The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, has celebrated the appointment of Bar. Stella Din Jacob as the new Executive Director, News, of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), describing it as a landmark achievement in the history of the organization.
In a statement signed by the Council Secretary, Comrade Jide Oyekunle, the NUJ noted that Din Jacob is the first woman to attain the prestigious position, commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating his commitment to inclusive leadership through the appointment.
The Council described Din Jacob as an accomplished broadcaster and newsroom manager whose career has spanned some of Nigeria’s leading media organizations, including Silverbird Group, Channels Television, and TVC News. It said her professional journey reflects excellence, dedication, and transformative leadership that has shaped credible and impactful journalism over the years.
Highlighting her mentorship role in the industry, the NUJ recalled that its current FCT Council Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, once worked under Din Jacob’s guidance as a young reporter at Silverbird Group—an experience that underscores her influence in nurturing the next generation of journalists.
The statement also pointed to Din Jacob’s legal training and professional qualifications as a unique asset, combining legal acumen with deep media expertise to drive innovation in news management.
Expressing confidence in her ability to further strengthen national broadcasting, the NUJ FCT Council said her leadership at NTA will foster unity, peace, and national development while inspiring women and young journalists across the country.
The Council concluded by expressing pride in her elevation and pledged its full support as she takes on the new responsibility.
