Ondo Government’s Security Efforts Yielding Results – Comrade Olufemi Lawson

In a recent media interview with a group of local and national newspapers, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Enlightenment to the Ondo State Governor, Comrade Olufemi Lawson, outlined the various strides made by the Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa-led administration in addressing security challenges across the state. Speaking to journalists in Lagos recently, Comrade Lawson emphasised the administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties, particularly in areas previously plagued by kidnappings and attacks on rural communities.

According to Comrade Lawson, the proactive security measures being implemented by the Aiyedatiwa administration have led to a marked decline in kidnapping incidents and armed attacks, especially in local government areas such as Ose, Akure North, and some parts of the Akoko Area. He attributed the success to improved collaboration between the state security agency, the Amotekun Corps, the Federal security agencies and local vigilante groups, as well as consistent investment in surveillance infrastructure and intelligence gathering.

He stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa has treated security as the backbone of development, insisting that peace and stability are prerequisites for economic growth and social progress. “The governor has not only increased funding to our local security outfits, but he has also ensured that our security operatives are well-equipped and motivated to respond swiftly to threats,” Lawson said.

Comrade Lawson further stressed that the administration’s progress is in alignment with the governor’s seven-point agenda, code-named OUR EASE, which stands for: Opportunities for All, Urban Renewal, Rural Development, Education and Human Capital, Agricultural Expansion, Security and Social Welfare, and Economic Diversification. According to him, the vision behind this agenda is to build a peaceful, prosperous, and inclusive Ondo State.

He noted that under the OUR EASE blueprint, the administration is pursuing a balanced approach to governance—one that ensures that rural and urban areas alike enjoy the dividends of democracy. “Governor Aiyedatiwa is deeply committed to inclusive governance. He believes every community, no matter how remote, deserves infrastructure, security, and economic empowerment,” Lawson declared.

On the question of education and infrastructure, Comrade Lawson revealed that the government has embarked on the rehabilitation of over 120 primary and secondary schools across the 18 local government areas of the state. He said plans are underway to upgrade technical colleges and introduce modern digital learning tools to better prepare students for the future. In terms of infrastructure, the administration is rehabilitating major roads, building new healthcare centers, and ensuring the completion of ongoing projects inherited from previous administrations.

Speaking on youth development, Comrade Lawson highlighted the governor’s support for vocational training programs, digital skills acquisition, and microcredit initiatives targeting young entrepreneurs. “Youth empowerment is not just a slogan; it’s a strategic focus of this administration. Our young people must be engaged meaningfully if we want to secure the future,” he stated.

Comrade Lawson also emphasized that the governor remains unwavering in his determination to ensure the equitable distribution of developmental projects across the state. He assured residents that the administration’s plans are not centered on urban areas alone but are deliberately designed to reach every community, including riverine and rural areas.

The SSA called on citizens to support the government’s initiatives by cooperating with security agencies, participating in local development forums, and holding leaders accountable. He reaffirmed that transparency, accountability, and inclusivity are the hallmarks of the Aiyedatiwa administration.

While concluding, Comrade Lawson expressed optimism about the future of Ondo State under Governor Aiyedatiwa. He reassured the public that the administration is resolute in its mission to transform the state into a model of sustainable development through effective governance, strategic investment, and people-centered policies.
