The former Inspector General of Police, IGP Abubakar Mohammed declared that Anambra State remained the safest state in the last five years with police records.
Abubakar who was speaking at Women Development Center Awka, during the 1st Anambra state Stakeholders’ Summit announced that there was no bank robbery in the state in the last five years during the governance of Peter Obi.
Yet an ignorant two-term Edo State governor and former National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole claimed that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, cannot address the security challenges facing the country.
Anambra State was the safest State under Peter Obi and that is what has prompted the former Inspector General of Police, IGP Abubakar Mohammed to call on the former Governor, Willie Obiano to emulate his predecessor, Obi by sustaining the security situation in the state.
It is on record that Peter Obi did not only ensure the arrest of nefarious Kidnappers in Anambra State but ensured their houses and hotels are demolished.
Under Adams Oshiomhole as Edo State Governor, the State accounts for the most prevalent occurrences of trafficking vis-à-vis sex-work migration.
Oshiomhole failed not only his activist credentials but also failed to deliver development to the people of Edo state in line with his presumed background as a progressive who goofed on the security apparatus put in place during Peter Obi’s 8 years in Anambra State.
Is it not the same Oshiomhole whose political career suffered a huge setback and was reduced to rubble that has gone on National Television to lie about the security of Anambra State under Peter Obi?
It is on record that not so long after the court of appeal affirmed his sack as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, he has been dislodged in Edo where he governed from 2008 to 2016.
Oshiomhole should be reminded that Anambra State enjoyed the best security partnership with security agencies hence the former IGP Abubakar Mohammed commended the relationship between the police and Anambra State Government under the former Governor of the State, Peter Obi, which contributed to the improved security in the State.
Peter Obi was the 1st governor to purchase 300 vehicles from Innoson Motors for security and made upfront payments to Innoson.
Anambra state was among the first in the southeast region to experience the gradual take-over of security by vigilante groups under Peter Obi. These vigilante groups worked with the police and ensured that criminal activities were reduced by over 80%.
Peter Obi empowered local vigilante groups, to the extent that people fear them more than the police. Local vigilante groups under his government were no-nonsense people, that was how this slogan originated “Ndi Mpiawa Azu” meaning “those that use flogging to tear the back skin.”
Nigerians could recall that Evans, the kidnapper said he ran out of Anambra because of the government of Peter Obi’s action toward Kidnappers and criminals.
My happiness is that Peter Obi and his vice will remain focused on their pursuit of giving Nigerians leaders and a government they truly deserve.
