Osun NSCDC Arrests Man For Vandalizing Government Primary School, Sells Roofing Sheet To Scavenger

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Osun State Command has arrested one, Jide Fadipe, male, 40 years old, resident of Ilaje-Area, BJ4 Ilesa, Osun State, for allegedly vandalizing a government primary school building at Ilaje-Area, Ilesa, Osun State.

The State Commandant, Michael Adaralewa said a member of the public from Ilesa earlier reported to the command that some unscrupulous elements had been vandalizing the school building by removing the iron sheets and other valuables in the school. The command then subsequently mounted surveillance around the school area to apprehend the perpetrators.

According to a press release on Friday, 7th June 2024 signed by the Civil Defence PRO Osun State Command, ASC Kehinde Adeleke, said that on Tuesday, 4th June 2024, the suspect was seen around 5 am, removing the roofing sheets. He, thereafter, moved the stolen items down to his house and was apprehended while he was trying to sell the materials to metal scraps buyers in Ilesa, Osun State.

Commandant Adaralewa said, Section 451 of the Criminal Code law Cap 34, Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, states that “any person who willfully and unlawfully destroys or damages any property is guilty of an offence and is liable”

The Commandant assured members of the public that the suspect would face the full wrath of the law, to serve as a deterrent to others who are fond of destroying government property.
