No fewer than 100 students have so far benefited in the 2021 Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation’s Youth Development Scheme.
Disclosing this at the formal opening of his Senatorial Liaison Office in Sagbama on Friday, the former Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Distinguished Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, stated that he was committed to the development of youths of the senatorial district the entire state, and the Ijaw nation at large.
Dickson, who noted that about one hundred students had benefited from the Youth Development Scheme of his Foundation for this year alone, said he was prepared to support and engage youths from the state who were interested in being recruited into Nigerian Navy, Airforce, Police and other appointments in the mainstream Federal Civil Service.
He said the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation would continue to underwrite WAEC, NECO and JAMB registration fees for indigenous students, as well as procure forms for those interested in joining the armed forces to serve their fatherland.
Senator Dickson noted that the Senatorial Liaison Office was being opened in Sagbama to enable the people of Sagbama and Ekeremor easily connect and relay their issues to his office.
Earlier in his message of appreciation on behalf of some of the benefiting students from the School of Foundation Studies, University of Africa, Bulou-Orua Campus, Mr. Ikoli Blessedness, thanked Senator Seriake Dickson for his support and encouragement to them and assured him that they would redouble their efforts in their studies to justify the investment the Henry Seriake Dickson Foundation had made in their educational development.
Mr. Ikoli also used the opportunity to appeal to Senator Seriake Dickson to sustain and expand his Senatorial Youth Development Scheme as a yearly programne, to enable more students benefit from the scheme.
The opening ceremony of the Bayelsa West Senatorial Office was graced by top functionaries of the Bayelsa State Government, including the Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo; the Political Adviser to the Governor, Chief Collins Cocodia; PDP Caucus leaders, commissioners, LGA Chairmen, women groups, and youths from across the state.
