The National Youth Committee of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) has issued a stern 7-day ultimatum to activist and politician Mr. Omoyele Sowore, demanding a public apology and retraction of what it describes as false and defamatory claims against the Force Public Relations Officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
This follows allegations made by Mr. Sowore during a recent protest at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he reportedly accused ACP Adejobi of being involved in the alleged disappearance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) eyeglasses. The PCRC Youth Committee has denounced the accusations as baseless, malicious, and aimed at tarnishing the image of a disciplined and professional police officer.
In a statement signed by its National Youth Coordinator, Engr. Junaid Olatunji Victor, the Committee warned that failure to retract the allegations and apologise publicly within seven days would prompt further action. This, it said, could include exposing alleged foreign sponsors and collaborators behind what it described as a deliberate campaign to destabilise the country and undermine its security institutions.
“The PCRC stands firmly in support of the Nigeria Police Force and remains committed to fostering trust, professionalism, and integrity in police-community relations,” the statement added.
The Committee emphasised that public figures should be more responsible with their utterances, especially on matters concerning national security.
A word is enough for the wise, the statement concluded.
