Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC)has called on the organisers of the August 1st 2024 Hunger Protest to engage in dialogue by using established channels of Communication to seek resolutions.
This was disclosed by the National Chairman of Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan at the National Headquarters, Abuja during a press briefing on Monday, 29th of July 2024.
“Our country is at a critical juncture, facing numerous challenges that require collective effort and cooperation. It is with this in mind that I urge all individuals and groups planning to participate in the upcoming protest to reconsider. Let us not provide an opportunity for those who wish to harm our community. Our collective safety and security must remain our paramount concern. Olaniyan said.
He further said that the the PCRC is committed to bridging the gap between the police and the community.
“We believe that through collaboration and mutual understanding, we can address the concerns of the public while ensuring that law and order are maintained.
“Our collective goal should be to build a safe and prosperous Nigeria where the rights of all citizens are respected and protected.
The PCRC chairman commended the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun, for been proactive in its efforts to ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.
“I appeal to you all to cooperate with the police. Our officers are dedicated to maintaining order and protecting lives and property. They are our partners in peace, not our adversaries. By working together, we can prevent any attempts to destabilize our communities, Olaniyan said.
He urged all Nigerians to cooperate with the police and other security agencies during this period.
“Let us prioritize the safety and well-being of our communities above all else. Together, we can prevent hoodlums from hijacking peaceful protests and causing unwarranted destruction. Let us stand united in our commitment to peace, justice, and progress, he concluded.
