Police Arrest Kidnapping Gang, Rescue Victim, In Nasarawa State

On March 17, 2025, one Alhaji Sani Bello, a Tudun Wada, Mararaba resident, complained to Mararaba A Division, Karu LGA, Nasarawa State, about his 8-year-old son, Abdulrahman Sani, who was abducted by unknown individuals in the Tudun Wada area of Mararaba.

According to a press release on Thursday, 20th March 2025, signed by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the abductors later contacted Alhaji Sani Bello, via phone, demanding a ransom of ₦700,000 for his son’s release.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, swiftly directed a team of police detectives to launch an immediate investigation.

Acting on credible intelligence, officers trailed the suspects and successfully arrested the following individuals in Keffi, Nasarawa State: Surajo Yusuf, male, 22 years old, a native of Katsina State and resident of Angwan Tanko, Keffi; Peter Samuel, male, 23 years old, of Nasarawa Town.

During interrogation, Surajo Yusuf confessed to carrying out the abduction alone and later enlisting the assistance of his accomplice (Peter Samuel) to keep the child, under the false pretence that the boy was his nephew.

The victim was rescued unharmed along Nasarawa Road, Keffi, Nasarawa State, and has since been reunited with his family.

A search of the suspects’ residence led to the recovery of various incriminating items, including:

Nigeria Correctional Service and Nigeria Immigration Service uniforms and accoutrements, a knife, a Nigeria Correctional Service identification card, a National Identity card, and three ATM cards bearing different names.

Commending the officers for their professionalism and swift action, the Commissioner of Police reassured the public of the Nigeria Police Force’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the police.

The suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
