
Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have uncovered and foiled an alleged forceful cult initiation exercise in the state, leading to the arrest of six male suspects and the recovery of a firearm and other dangerous weapons.
According to a statement signed by the Enugu State police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the suspects were arrested on December 5, 2025, by officers attached to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, following credible intelligence. Police investigations revealed that the suspects allegedly forcefully initiated victims into the Supreme Vikings Confraternity on November 25, 2025, at a forest location around Ugwu Peak, Iva Valley, in Enugu North Local Government Area.
Items recovered from the suspects include one locally made double-barrelled pistol, four cutlasses allegedly used in carrying out the criminal act, and two empty bottles of Squadron rum said to have been used during the initiation process.
The arrested suspects were identified as Edeh Francis Chigbo (22), also known as “Saint”; Ogbu Fabulous (23), also called “Nwakanwa”; Odom Chiemerie (28), alias “Coded”; Nweke Anayo (22), known as “Chaplet”; Obumneme Obiechina (30), popularly called “Biggy”; and Chigozie Ugbene (20), also known as “God Bless.”

Police authorities disclosed that the suspects confessed to being members of the secret cult group and to their roles in the alleged criminal activities. They are expected to be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Commenting on the development, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to rid the state of cultism and other criminal activities, particularly during the Yuletide season and beyond.
He urged residents of the state to remain law-abiding and vigilant and to continue cooperating with the police by promptly reporting suspicious activities and individuals to security agencies.
