…recovers of one Beretta Pistol loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition, three locally made cut-to-size pistols
The policemen attached to Ekpan Police Station along Refinery junction on a visibility and confidence building patrols have arrested two suspected armed robbers.
The Police also recovered from the two suspects one locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, one cut-to-size double-barrel pistol, and two rounds of live cartridges.
According to a press release on Friday, 2nd June 2023 signed by the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects belong to the syndicate that has been terrorizing Ekpan and environs, especially the refinery road area.
Also, the Commander Decoy Squad, ASP Julius Robinson in compliance with CP directive on a continuous manhunt for criminals in the command, on Thursday, 29th May 2023, acting on a tip-off, led operatives of Decoy Squad on an intelligence-led raid at a criminal Rendezvous in Sapele and Oghara.
During the operation, five suspects namely; Christian Mordi, age 30yrs, Julius Onoja, age 29years, Obikoko Damian, age 33years, all members of the Vikings confraternity and Ochuko Ofoye, age 34years and Odem Hunt, age 30years who are a member of Patriotic Lord’s initiative for Justice were arrested.
Due to the intelligence already gathered, the house of Odemi Hunt at Oghara was thoroughly searched during which a Beretta pistol with breach number A059977 loaded with eight rounds of 9mm live ammunition was recovered suspects and the exhibits are in custody while efforts have was intensified to arrest other members of the gang.
In another development, police operatives attached to Agbarho Police station while on surveillance patrol at Ekrarhawe community Agbarho, Ughelli North LGA, arrested one Difference Sunday, age 18 years of opposite Ovie palace Isiokolo in Ethiope East L.G.A of Delta State.
Upon search of the suspect, a locally made cut-to-size gun was recovered. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is a member of the Eiye confraternity, and a blue beret with a symbol of the Eiye confraternity was also recovered from the suspect.
The Police Commissioner while commending the effort of the men, also urged parents and guardians to keep a close watch on their wards, especially the youth, noting that the majority of crimes committed are carried out by the youths.
He also reiterated the Command’s commitment to the fight against crime and criminality while calling for more cooperation from Deltans and residents.
