The Nigeria Police has dismissed as false a message circulating on social media suggesting that dialing USSD codes \*#61# and ##002# could help mobile users detect and remove phone hackers.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Force clarified that the advisory did not originate from the Police and should not be regarded as an official communication.
The NPF urged members of the public to always verify information through official platforms and exercise caution against the spread of misinformation.
While warning against reliance on unverified tips, the Police also encouraged Nigerians to adopt genuine safety practices to protect themselves from online threats.
