….. Recovers One Locally Made Gun, Two Live Cartridges
……Three other suspects were arrested for Possession of illicit Drugs
Police operatives of Dragon Patrol while conducting a stop and search along Kwale – Ogwashi-Uku Expressway, intercepted a commercial Sienna Bus conveying passengers from Ughelli to Asaba.
In a statement signed by Delta State Police Command Spokesperson, DSP. Edafe Bright said that the team subjected the passengers to a random search, during which one locally fabricated Pistol and two live cartridges were recovered from one Fedelis Akpos, aged 23 years, a resident of Ewhu Community Ughelli South L.G.A.
The suspect concealed the gun and cartridges inside a polythene bag containing smoked fish to serve as a decoy, but the professionally trained Policemen uncovered the exhibit despite his antics. The suspect is in custody and the investigation is ongoing.
In another development, on Wednesday, 7th February 2024, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) while conducting a stop and search at Head-Bridge Asaba, flagged down a Toyota Hiace bus for a routine check.
“During the search, three cartons containing one hundred (100) bottles of CSC Codeine and four hundred (400) sachets of 250mg of Tramadol, and some other suspected hard drugs were recovered from the trio of Lucky Emmanuel ‘m’ of Ughelli aged 40yrs, and Enunwuune Snu ‘m’ aged 46yrs, and Jacob Efedeye ‘m’ aged 32yrs. Suspects are in custody and the investigation is ongoing, Edafe said.
Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi has expressed his sincere appreciation to the officers for carrying out their duties diligently and outsmarting these suspects.
He reiterated that under his watch, the command will do all it takes within the ambit of the law to ensure that a safer environment for all Deltans, residents and non-residents is achieved.
CP Abaniwonda Olufemi assured residents of a peaceful, safe and secure Delta State. He further warns that all forms of criminality, lawlessness, or behaviour that contravene the laws of the land will be dealt with accordingly
