The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the death of Justice Margaret Mary Igbetar (rtd) at her Gboko Road, Makurdi residence.
A statement on Friday, 25th August 2023 signed by the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Anene Sewuese Catherine, said that ‘E’ Police Division Makurdi on Thursday, 24th August 2023 received information that Justice Margaret Mary Igbetar (rtd) could not respond to calls and was nowhere to be found.
She further said that detectives were immediately deployed for investigation.
“A search conducted within her house at Wantor Kwange Street, Gboko road, Makurdi led to the discovery of her dead body in a pool of blood inside her kitchen. It was also observed that she had deep cuts on her back.
“Further investigation led to the arrest of one Aondohemba Joseph and recovery of exhibits for detailed investigation, SP Anene Catherine said.
While commiserating with the family and friends of the deceased, the Benue State Police Commissioner, Bartholomew Nnamdi Onyeka has condemned this dastardly act.
He assures them of his commitment to ensuring that he unravels the mystery behind the death and brings the perpetrators of this barbaric act to the book.
