Police Kills 3 Suspected Kidnappers Inside Isiodu Forest, Rivers State

The Rivers State Police Operatives attached to the C4i Intelligence Unit, have neutralized three suspected kidnappers at Isiodu Forest in Emohua LGA of the state.

Rivers State Police Commissioner, Emeka Nwonyi stated this on Friday during a press briefing in continuation of the command’s move to make Rivers State crime-free and leave no stone unturned in the process of making Rivers State crime free.

The Police Commissioner said on 16, June,2023 stormed a hideout at Isiodu. The hoodlums on sighting the operatives opened fire and a gun battle was ensured, on the process three of the hoodlums were fatally wounded and were confirmed dead at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

He disclosed that eight magazines,70 rounds of live ammunition 10 cartridges were recovered.

In another development, the CP said that Police operatives on routine patrol spotted a corpse tied, with bodily injuries. One suspect was arrested and the investigation is ongoing.

The Police Commissioner also said that information got to the Command that some hoodlums reputed for snatching phones and other valuables were reportedly waiting somewhere in UPE Sandfilled Borikiri, Port Harcourt.

The Command surveillance team immediately went after the hoodlums, and on sighting the police, the hoodlums took to their heels. While on hot pursuit, a black polythene bag fell off of one of the suspects.

When the black bag was opened, one Tokarov Barreta pistol without a beach number was found inside the bag.

Also, the Command on Friday, 9 /6/2023 went to Eket in Akwa Ibom State and recovered one stolen Lexus Jeep, 2018 Model with Reg No. SD 929 GE, Lagos, colour ash, belonging to One Mr. Emeka.

The Lexus Jeep was reported stolen by Mr. Emeka while his driver was kidnapped. The incident took place on Thursday, 8th June 2023, in Port Harcourt.

Following the report of the incident, police operatives tracked the Lexus jeep to Akwa Ibom State and discovered that the driver of Mr. Emeka arranged the kidnapping and stole the jeep.

The suspects are Mr. Sunday Unyime, 25 years old, and Mr. Isaac, 24 years old, respectively.

The suspects are under custody for further interrogation while Lexus was recovered
