The Nasarawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of two suspected armed robbers and the recovery of a stolen vehicle, marking a significant success in its ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity across the state.
According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the arrests were made in the early hours of Saturday, July 12, following a swift response to a distress call received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of ‘B’ Division, Lafia.
At approximately 3:00 a.m., the DPO was alerted to an armed robbery in progress at a residence in Shinge by Railway Quarters, Lafia. During the incident, the suspects reportedly stole a Toyota Corolla with registration number GRU 106 AE and a Jincheng motorcycle.
Acting swiftly on intelligence, the DPO and his patrol team mobilized and intercepted two of the suspects—Basiru Lawal, male, of Rogo Local Government Area in Kano State, and Dahiru Mohammed, male, of Shinge Quarters, Lafia—at Jibo Filling Station along Jos Road, Lafia. The stolen Toyota Corolla was recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest.
Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the robbery gang and recover the stolen motorcycle.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, praised their prompt response and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.
The Police further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with security agencies by reporting suspicious persons or activities within their communities.
