The Nasarawa State Police Operatives said on Thursday, 13th April 2023, it received an information that suspected kidnappers blocked Assakio-Sabon gida road in Lafia East Development Area of Lafia LGA and kidnapped one Ezekiel Luka of Taraba state.
According to a press release signed by the Nasarawa State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said that Police operatives attached to Assakio Division, led by SP Ekoja Elaigu, launched a manhunt for the abductors.
Consequently, on Friday, 14th April 2023, police operatives came in contact with the kidnappers where a gun duel ensued.
DSP Nansel said bowing to the superior firepower of the operatives, three suspected kidnappers were neutralized, the victim was rescued unhurt, one kidnapper (Friday Orshio of Gidan Adamu, Assakio, Lafia East development Area) was arrested and one locally fabricated revolver gun and seven rounds of 6.72mm ammunition were recovered from the suspects as exhibit.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Maiyaki Baba, has commended the officers for a job well done and urged them to sustain the tempo and rid the state of criminals.
