The Bauchi State Police Command has neutralized two kidnappers who attempted to kidnap a victim.

A statement by the Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, said that on March 3, 2023, credible intelligence revealed to the command that at about 0100 hours, some unknown gunmen invaded the residence of Alhaji Abdulhamid Muhammad at Rafin Cora village via Ningi LGA in an attempt to kidnap his son, one Usman Abdulhamid, age 28.

“However, in the process, the victim resisted being taken away by the kidnappers. The victim was shot multiple times in his lower abdomen while making an effort to escape, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil said.

He further said that on receipt of the information, the police operatives, jointly with a local vigilante group led by the DPO of Ningi, swiftly mobilized to the scene to prevent the kidnappers from accomplishing their mission in the village, even though the kidnappers attacked the police operatives with sporadic gunshots.

While responding, the police operatives engaged them in a gun duel, which forced them to scamper in disarray with possible gunshot wounds.

Consequently, one of the kidnappers met his Waterloo on the spot, and an AK-47 was retrieved during the encounter.

The victim was rescued and immediately taken to the Federal Medical Center in Birnin Kudu for treatment.

“Concentrated efforts have been intensified in a bid to follow their trail and arrest the fleeing suspects to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement concluded.
