…. Strengthens ties for Police Family Welfare
The Chairperson of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Risqat Oluwatoyin Jimoh, on behalf of other members of the association, has paid a courtesy visit to the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House, Marina. The visit which was to show appreciation also doubled as a platform to strengthen collaborative efforts towards supporting police families, widows, and the less privileged in Lagos State.
In her speech, Mrs. Jimoh expressed profound gratitude to the First Lady for her consistent support and invaluable assistance rendered to POWA, PWA, and LAPOWA of the Lagos State Chapter over the years. She particularly highlighted the First Lady’s role in alleviating the suffering of widows and disadvantaged families of police officers who died in active service. She praised Dr. Sanwo-Olu’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of women, children, and other vulnerable groups in the state.
Mrs. Jimoh reaffirmed POWA’s mission to promote the welfare of police families through education, healthcare, empowerment, and skills development. She emphasized the need for continued collaboration with leaders like the First Lady to expand the reach of these initiatives, especially in areas such as food distribution, scholarship support, and vocational training for widows and children of fallen officers.
In her response, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu welcomed the POWA team and assured them of her continued commitment to working hand-in-hand with the association. She emphasized the importance of collective action in supporting families of law enforcement personnel and pledged to further support impactful programs that align with the objectives of POWA.
