Prosperity Cup 2022: Nembe City Score Eleven Goals

…..As Thirteen Teams Progress On Match Day One

As the much-awaited Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament tagged ‘The Prosperity Cup’ got into its business stage, thirteen teams have booked their place in the next round of the competition, following victories on matchday one played across eight centers on Friday.

The biggest victory came from the Nembe City Centre, as Nembe City pummeled their opponent, the Kpogbokiri community, 11 goals to 2, in what is obviously, one of the biggest scorelines recorded in the history of the Governor’s Cup since its inception in 2015.

Peter Oyambo and Atebu B. both netted hat tricks, with Wisdom Vanman, Nengi, and Abiola Oyekalum completing the route in the second match that became a one-sided game, in favor of the host.

The first game at the center saw Etieama walk over Sangakubu, as the team failed to honour their fixture, the same situation at the Tombia center in Yenagoa, where Oduduwa FC booked their place in the next round after walking over Redemption Fire FC.

However, in the second game, Grace Chapel FC defeated Ekpetiama community two-nil, with Honest Bamson and Aaron Solomon finding the back of the net.

The Ekpetiama side attracted lots of support from the Tombia community since they are neighbors and looked promising from the onset with lots of misused opportunities, but Honest Bamson’s header in the 19th minute from Ebitimi Kalama’s cross, and Aaron Solomon’s beautiful slot from close range in the 72nd minute, ensured they progressed to the next round.

Joe Isuru could have reduced the deficit ten minutes to full time, but no thanks to his header which went some inches away from the woodwork after connecting from a free-kick.

At the BDGS center, Agbura community defeated House of Hope FC three goals to two in the first game, as Swali Market saw off Experience Academy three-two in the second game, while at Opolo Centre, Bayelsa Palm FC defeated Niger Delta FC one-nil, with NIIT defeating St. Joseph, Agudama 4-2 on penalties, after a one-all draw at regulation time.

In other results, Land of Peace Church beat Divine Joy Ministry by e goal to nil in the first game at the Okordia/Zarama center, Potter House of God lost one four to Igbogene FC, Okoroma FC were two-one winners over Opu Nembe Community at the Okoroma Tereke center, while at the Oporoma center, Osokama community walked over Amaebide community.
