The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed as false and misleading recent social media reports claiming that the recruitment process for police officers for the year 2025 has commenced.
In a statement signed by the Commission’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC described the circulating stories as “mischievous” and a calculated attempt to mislead prospective applicants.
“The Commission has not commenced this exercise and obviously will follow established procedures and processes when it is ready,” the statement said. It advised members of the public, especially interested applicants, to disregard such fake publications and await official communication from the Commission.
The PSC expressed concern over the recurring attempts by fraudsters to confuse the public each time recruitment plans are in the pipeline, stating that such activities not only mislead innocent Nigerians but also undermine the integrity of the recruitment process.
To address the situation, the Commission has called on relevant security agencies to track down the perpetrators behind the fraudulent notices and bring them to justice.
The PSC reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent and credible recruitment process, conducted strictly in accordance with laid-down rules and regulations. It also warned fraudsters to steer clear of the Commission’s programmes or risk facing the full weight of the law.
