PSC To Investigate Bribery Allegations Against AIG Aina As Protesters Storm Headquarters

The Police Service Commission has pledged to investigate allegations of bribery levelled against Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Emmanuel Aina by a group of protesters who besieged its Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja, on Wednesday.

The protesters, operating under the umbrella of the Centre for Human Rights and Advocacy in Africa Network (CHRAAN), carried placards and called for an immediate probe of the senior police officer, accusing him of abuse of office and corruption.

In a statement signed by the Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr. Ikechukwu Ani, the Commission assured that it would thoroughly examine the complaints and ensure justice is served to all parties involved.

“The Commission will continue to hold the Police accountable for its actions and inactions but urges Nigerians to also give the Force the necessary support and cooperation to enable it to perform optimally,” the statement read in part.

The PSC further reiterated its commitment to transparency, noting that it has launched a whistle-blowing policy to encourage citizens to report cases of official misconduct both within the Commission and among institutions under its oversight.
