Mr Sani Ndanusa, a former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, has called for love and peaceful co-existence amontg the citizenry, during and after the Ramadan.
Ndanusa, a governorship aspirant under the platform of APC in Niger state made the call during the evening prayer and fast-breaking (Iftar) in his residence in Minna on Sunday
The former minister, who is also the Marafa Nupe said that the Ramadan period represented love, forgiveness, peaceful co-existence and the need to extend a helping hand to the less privileged in the society.
He said that Nigeria needed love and peaceful co-existence to strengthen and surmount all the challenges confronting her as a nation.
According to him: “For any country to thrive, we need love and peaceful co-existence to strengthen the social bond and overcome any challenge confronting it as a nation.
“It is only when we allow love to grow in our hearts, irrespective of religion, language and tribe barrier that we can collectively as a nation surmount any challenge confronting us.”
Speaking further, the Marafa Nupe said that fasting during this period of Ramadan should not just consist of refraining from eating and drinking, but from every kind of selfish desire and wrong-doing.
He also urged Muslims in the country to use the period to pray for a better Nigeria characterised by peace.
“I congratulate us all, the Muslim Ummah, for having this opportunity, a special grace from God to take part in this year’s Ramadan,”he added.
The governorship aspirant also called on Muslims to renew their commitment and intensify prayers to God to overcome the nation’s challenges and for the success of 2023 general elections.
The former minster said prayer is key to success, hence the need for Muslims and other Nigerians to continue to pray for the peace, unity, progress and development of the country.
Ndanusa also called on Muslims, especially the wealthy individuals, to use the holy month and support the less privileged in the society to enable them observe the holy month with relative ease.
