On Thursday, Deputy President of the Senate, Obarisi Ovie Omo-Agege, declared to run for the Delta State governorship race under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Before declaring to join the governorship race, Omo-Agege apologized to the over ten thousand supporters who had arrived at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, football field as early as 7 am, but the program started at about 4 pm.
He said despite the supporters’ coming so early, they remained patient, which he said was an indication that APC was ready to chase away the PDP from the state.
The well-attended declaration was held at the open ground of the campus of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), in the Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State after a visit to some royal fathers.
Omo-Agege, who reeled out his parliamentary and constituency achievements, said the same courageous feats, which will serve as a model, could be replicated to save the state from the ruin of the ruling party and build a new Delta.
He, therefore, promised to usher in a New Delta on “four pillars of employment and empowerment, development, good governance, and enduring security (EDGE) to run on functional and adequate public infrastructure. This is a new covenant with Deltans. “
