The publisher of one of the fastest growing online news medium, Swift Reporters has congratulated the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mallam Mele Kolo Kyari and the Managing Director of the Port Harcourt Refining Company, Ahmed Dikko on the signing of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) Contract for the Rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) between NNPC and Tecnimont SpA.
In a press release on Tuesday in Abuja, Adewole Kehinde commended the Buhari’s administration for the approval of the rehabilitation saying it is a right step to privatize the Refinery by making sure it is in good working conditions.
It will be recalled that Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva had announced the new deal after the weekly Federal Executive Council, (FEC), meeting that the rehabilitation will be done in three phases of 18, 24 and 44 months.
He disclosed that the contract was awarded to an Italian company, Tecnimont spa, who are experts in refinery maintenance, on the recommendation of the Japanese firm that built it.
He also noted that the funding would be in three components, namely, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), budgetary allocations and facility from Afreximbank.
The rehabilitation contract was signed on Tuesday, 6th April, 2021 at the NNPC Towers, Abuja.
