The Media Adviser to the immediate past Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola SAN, on Sunday morning, described as false, mischievous, defamatory, fake news, a campaign of calumny and evil propaganda, a report that some soldiers barricaded the entrance to his house in Abuja on Saturday.
Mr Hakeem Bello, the former two-term Lagos State Governor’s spokesperson in a telephone chat with journalists explained that Fashola was not even in Abuja on Saturday.
According to Bello, the former Minister has been in Lagos for a while and on Saturday attended his father’s 10th Anniversary Memorial prayer and the wedding of Senator Gbenga Ashafa’s son, Oluwatobi.
Bello urged Nigerians to disregard the evil report from enemies of progress who thrive on disseminating fake news to heat the polity.
“As you are talking to me now, we are in Lagos and yesterday ( Saturday) we attended the 10th Year Memorial Prayer of the former minister’s father, Pa. Ibrahim Ademola Bayo Fashola, who died in 2013.
“The prayer took place at the premises of Surulere Secondary School, Ladipo Labinjo Street, Surulere, Lagos. Many family members and friends of the former governor attended the event.
“He also attended the wedding of Oluwatobi, son of Senator Gbenga Ashafa, which was held at Harbour Point, Victoria Island later in the day.
“It was at the wedding that some people showed us the tweet of some fictitious soldiers in his Abuja residence. We all dismissed it as the handiwork of mischief makers.
“If you look at it very well, it has no substance, and, unfortunately, anybody could come up with a tweet like that.
“I urge all well-meaning Nigerians to disregard it.”
