The Rivers State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the Pre-rally attack by unknown armed men on the campaign convoy of Senator Magnus Abe, while on his way to attend a rally at Akinima in Ahoada West Local Government Area.
According to a statement by the River State Police Command spokesperson, SP Grace Iringe-koko said that security personnel attached to Senator Abe were able to rebuff the attack.
“Upon receipt of the information, tactical teams were immediately deployed to the area to reinforce the personnel earlier posted to provide security at the campaign venue. The teams were able to restore peace and normalcy in the area, paving way for a successful rally, SP Grace Iringe-koko, said.
Recall that the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe, narrowly escaped death when some unknown gunmen attacked his campaign train.
It was learnt that Abe and his supporters were on their way to Mbiama in Ahoada West Local Government of the state when they were ambushed by unknown gunmen.
