The Sarkin Arewa Nupe, Alhaji Usman-Sarki Ismail has commended the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State, Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, for bestowing traditional title on him and others from Maasaba ruling house.
Reacting to his emergence as the Sarkin Arewa Nupe, he said that the Etsu Nupe deserved a lot of commendation and a pat on the back for reposing tremendous confidence in him and others
The title, Ismail said, would continue to be cherished by him, vowing that, he would do everything humanly possible to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Etsu Nupe.
He said that the new title would spur him to do more, to ensure the socio economic and political development of the Bida emirate, kin Nupe, Niger State and Nigeria at large.
According to the Sarkin Arewa Nupe, traditional title holders, and other prominent and wealthy individuals in the area should do more to boost the socioeconomic development of their domains, rather than selfishly holding their wealth.
On the inauguration of Nma Yaramatu Memorial Foundation Islamic Institute, Bida, Ismail said that it was built to facilitate the development of both Islamic and Western education in the kin Nupe.
He said education was the key to development, that, “we will continue to ensure that our youths get the education they deserve to enable us to get the much-needed development for the kin Nupe to move forward.
Sarkin Arewa Nupe noted that religious education was fundamental in life and for the attainment of Allah’s blessings in the hereafter, which is what motivated him to spend his God-given wealth to build the Islamic school.
Ismail also noted that Islamic education was an evolution that had been in existence since human creation.
“It is the foundation of human survival and a recipe for self-actualisation.
“It is our collective responsibility to put children on a soundtrack of acquiring religious knowledge, discipline and acceptable behavioural lifestyle in order to bequeath a virtue for a just and honest generation,” he observed.
He said, “It is therefore imperative for parents to dedicate themselves by committing their time and resources to the development of their children’s education.
“Both Western and Islamic education are useful ingredients for building an egalitarian, just and trusted generations for a disciplined and responsible society,” Ismaila stressed.
