The Special Intervention Squad training initiative marks a monumental step in the journey towards a safer and more secure Nigeria.

This was disclosed by the Nigerian Police Force Liaison and Coordinator to the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, Busayo Mogaji, during the inauguration of a training programme for commanders of the Special Intervention Squad at the Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Monday.

The inauguration was done in partnership with the United States Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

Mogaji expresses his sincere gratitude to IGP Kayode Egbetokun for entrusting me with the significant responsibility of orchestrating this training programme.

He also extended his sincere appreciation to the dedicated men and women of the Nigerian Police Force for their courage, commitment, and unwavering dedication to the nation’s security to lay the groundwork for the training programme.

Mogaji further extended his sincere thanks to the AIG PMF, Ayoku Yekini, CP PMF, A.A. Aribo, the immediate past PSO, CP Tunji Disu, the present PSO, CP Adenola Johnson, DCP Moses Jagaba, and the AO PMF, SP Promise.

He praised the U.S. government for its essential support and partnership in the training endeavour.

“Our strengthening bilateral relationship is a testament to our unified commitment to bolster law enforcement and security in our nation and across our borders, Mogaji said.

In addition, he said, “Special thanks are due to INL Senior Advisor Shaun Gavin for his tireless dedication and meticulous coordination. Working collaboratively with me, Shaun’s comprehensive planning and attention to detail have been pivotal in all aspects of this initiative, from liaising with instructors to facilitating logistics such as lodging, transportation, and equipment. His exceptional collaboration has been instrumental in realising this programme.

“I also want to extend a very special thank you to the training instructors from both the U.S. and Nigeria. Your expertise, experience, and dedication to this programme are crucial. You are not just imparting skills; you are shaping the future of our law enforcement capabilities.

“To the men and women selected for this specialised training, you carry a significant mission. Your participation in this programme is not just about skill enhancement; it represents our collective stand against crime and embodies our vision for a peaceful, stable Nigeria.

“The training will equip you with the expertise needed to tackle the complexities of modern law enforcement. You are the vanguard of this new era in policing, and the hopes of our nation rest on your capable shoulders.

Furthermore, he acknowledged that the success of the programme is a shared achievement, born from hard work, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence, as every participant, from trainers to support staff, has been vital in bringing this vision to life.

In conclusion, he reiterated that the training initiative marks a significant step in the ongoing commitment to safeguard the nation and uphold the rule of law.

The Special Intervention Squad (SIS) is an initiative of the IGP that was created to combat violent crimes across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
