The South West Youth Alliance has condemned what it described as an unwarranted and baseless attack by African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential Candidate, Omoyele Sowore, against the former Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
In a statement signed by its Spokesperson, Adenike Ajanlekoko, the group said Sowore’s warning to Hundeyin was mischievous and a calculated attempt to malign the image of dedicated officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Alliance particularly faulted Sowore’s description of former Force PRO, DCP Muyiwa Adejobi, as “disgraced,” insisting that Adejobi served the Force with professionalism, dignity, and integrity.
It noted that Adejobi’s exemplary record earned him elevation to Deputy Commissioner of Police and his current posting as Deputy Commissioner of Operations, Delta State Police Command.
“It is laughable and hypocritical for Mr. Sowore, who lacks the moral standing to lecture credible officers of the Force, to suggest that CSP Hundeyin will end his career in ignominy,” the statement read.
“CSP Hundeyin’s track record speaks volumes of his competence, dedication, and capacity to engage citizens constructively while upholding the ideals of democratic policing.”
The group stressed that the Nigeria Police Force under the current leadership is not engaging in propaganda or stage-managed policing, adding that officers like Hundeyin and Adejobi embody the ongoing reforms in the institution.
Reaffirming its support for Hundeyin and the police leadership, the South West Youth Alliance urged Sowore to desist from making what it called reckless and unfounded statements capable of demoralizing officers.
