The Integrity Youth Alliance has berated a “self-acclaimed political analyst and security expert,” Prince David Adenekan, on his baseless statement that “IGP Egbetokun’s opposing state police is an attempt at holding firmly to operational powers.”
Responding to a publication in an online blog titled “State Police: Adenekan Tackles Inspector General Of Police (IGP),” the Board Chairman of the Alliance, Comrade Adewole Kehinde, said that it is unfortunate that a so-called “self-acclaimed political analyst and security expert” will sit in the comfort of his home in Chicago, Illinois, and ignorantly say, “The calls against the creation of state police is diversionary, a waste of time, and most importantly, an attempt at holding firmly to operational powers by the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun.”
The statement read, “We wish to remind the “self-acclaimed political analyst and security expert” that IGP Kayode Egbetokun is not a power monger who will be afraid to lose his position and his powers as police boss.
“We also wished to enlighten the ignorance of the “self-acclaimed political analyst and security expert” that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, ICT, and Police Representative at the Conference on National Security and State Police, AIG Ben Okolo, has said his statement on state police was his personal opinion aimed at stimulating the discourse and not that of the Inspector General of Police or the Nigeria Police Force.”
“Additionally, we would like to remind the “self-acclaimed political analyst and security expert” that the Inspector General of Police’s authority would never be diminished by the establishment of state police.
“On a final note, we are drawing the attention of the “self-acclaimed political analyst and security expert” to the words of the Inspector General of Police at the just concluded tour of Ogun State, where he said, “The police management is watching keenly the debate on state police. The police management will speak at the appropriate time and make its decision known to the public.”
The Alliance further called on the other self-acclaimed political analysts and security experts to hear from the horse’s mouth before jumping to conclusions as Prince David Adenekan goofed with his baseless interview.
