SWYA Refutes Claims Of Police Disobedience In Nestoil Court Order Dispute

The South West Youth Alliance has dismissed allegations by the National Justice and Equity Movement accusing the Lagos State Police Command of defying a court order vacating ex parte directives in the dispute involving Nestoil Limited.

In a statement issued on Thursday by Adenike Ajanlekoko, spokesperson of the South West Youth Alliance, it described the claims as “misleading, unfounded, and deliberately crafted to malign the integrity of the Lagos State Police Command.”

According to the group, the Nigeria Police Force follows established legal procedures when served with ex parte court orders. It explained that such directives must first be verified by the Police Legal Directorate to confirm authenticity, jurisdiction, and enforceability before any action is taken, a process conducted through the court bailiff.

SWYA challenged the National Justice and Equity Movement to provide concrete evidence to support its allegation that an individual identified as Mr Sulu Gambari met with a senior police officer after a court ruling and allegedly delivered ₦10 million to influence police actions regarding the sealing of Nestoil premises. The group said such a claim cannot stand on hearsay or what it described as “political sensationalism”.

The Alliance urged the organisation to allow legal processes to take their full course, noting that any party dissatisfied with a court ruling has the constitutional right to seek redress through the appropriate channels rather than resort to public accusations that could undermine public trust.

SWYA also reaffirmed confidence in the Lagos State Police Command under Commissioner of Police Jimoh Moshood, stating that the Command continues to operate on principles of accountability, integrity, and professionalism in handling matters before it.
