The Management of the University of Port-Harcourt has officially presented a letter of appreciation to the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami
The presentation took place in Abuja on Tuesday as the applaud was in recognition of the Minister’s effort in pioneering a new era of digital economy in Nigeria and also taking ICT development to a higher level, which the institution described as a laudable achievement.
The Management further appreciated the Minister for the Federal Government intervention project built and donated to the Campus (IT Innovation and Incubation Hub) which was commissioned on December 17th, 2019 by the Honourable Minister, Dr Pantami, and houses the Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering Programme and also updated him on the status of the centre.Â
The University revealed that the partnership with the institution has enhanced capacity development and Digital Skills in line with the blueprint of the National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy for a Digital Nigeria.
The letter of appreciation was delivered by the Director, Centre for Information and Telecommunication Engineering Programme, Dr Boudillon Omeijie on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the University.
The University of Port Harcourt is located in the city of Port Harcourt.
It was established in 1975 as University College, Port Harcourt and was given University status in 1977.
The University of Port Harcourt was ranked the sixth in Africa and the first in Nigeria by Times Higher Education (THE) in 2015.
