The FCT Police Command has released the preliminary investigations into the viral video of a mob action in the social media, suggesting that the persons being mobbed are ‘suspected kidnappers’ who abducted a woman and her child at Wuse 2, Abuja.
According to a press release by the FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, she said that the preliminary investigation reveals that, it was an incident of one chance robbery involving the two suspects in the video, who attempted to defraud their victim in a painted taxi with reg no. KUJ 959 AQ.
She reiterated that the Police Operatives from Wuse Division swiftly moved to scene upon receiving the information, unfortunately, due to mob action one of the suspects was burnt to death while the other suspect is currently receiving medical attention.
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police CP. Bala Ciroma has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident and appeals to members of the public to shun jungle justice, ASP Mariam said.
The Command implored residents to report all suspicious movements, emergency or distress, to the Police.
