We Have Over 500 Projects Waiting For Commissioning – Pantami

The Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Pantami has said that the Ministry has over 500 projects to be commissioned by various agencies and parastatal under the Ministry.

Pantami said this on Tuesday, 11 August, 2020 during the virtual commissioning of eleven completed projects across the country.

The Minister said that the projects align with the 3 focus areas of the Federal Government, namely economic development, security and anti-corruption. Furthermore, the projects are part of the policies of the Ministry that the parastatals are to implement.

Speaking during the commissioning, the Chairman of the occasion, Gov Hope Uzodinma of Imo State commended the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy for taking the Ministry to the Next Level.

“When you were sworn in as a Minister, some of us who followed your activities as the DG NITDA were convinced you were going to lift the Ministry from where they were to the Next Level, knowing you as a thinker and a man full of positive ideas, Gov Uzodinma said.

In his own remark, the Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya   said “For us in Gombe, we know your capacity, ability and courage that is inbuilt in you since from childhood that made Mr President identify you as one of those that can add value to this government. We are so proud you are doing a great job.

The eleven projects are: Emergency Communications Center (ECC), Ilorin, Kwara State; Emergency Communications Center (ECC), Calabar, Cross River State; School Knowledge Center (SKC), GDSS, Gombe State; Tertiary Institution Knowledge Centre (TIKC), Delta State University, Abaraka; Virtual Examination Center, University of Maiduguri.

Others are: Information Technology Innovation Centre, Kogi State University; Information Technology Capacity Building Centre, College of Education, Jigawa; Information Technology Capacity Building Centre, FUTO, Imo State; e-Health/Data Sharing Center, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Bauchi; New Neighborhood Post Office, Delta State and Remodeled National Mail Exchange Centre, Mbiama, Bayelsa State.

Among the special Guest of honour in attendant includes: Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of State Power, Goddy Jedy Agba, Minister of State Education, Chief Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Minister of State Mines and Steel, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed while the various Head of agencies in attendance include Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi, MD & CEO of NIGCOMSAT, Dr. Abimbola Alale, MD/CEO Galaxy Backbone, Professor Muhammed Abubakar and the Project Commissioning Chairman who is also the Executive Secretary of The Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) Dr Ayuba Shuaibu.

The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Professor Adeolu Akande gave the closing remarks.
