Society of Family Physicians of Nigeria ( SOFPON), Osun State Chapter, has hailed its members for discharging their duties optimally to the patient best interest as well as family oriented.
Dr Tunde Afolabi, the SOFPON Chairman, Osun State Chapter gave the commendation during World Family Doctors Day 2023 in Osun.
He also congratulated family doctors all over the world for observing their day and urged them to continue to discharge their duties without fear or favour.
According to him, “This day is an excellent opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the progress made in Family Medicine and the exceptional contrbutions of Primary care team.
Afolabi said, “This year Theme : Family Doctors, the Heart of Healthcare ” has re-emphasize the crucial role family doctors played in coordinating healthcare delivery for patient in our society.
“Over the time, trusted relationship has been built between family doctors and their patients. Family doctors are extra ordinary physicians, who has invested their lives, time and energy to build a functional and healthy family., “he said.
He appreciated the tireless efforts of family doctors and primary care team in improving healthcare outcome and creating healthier communities.
“Family Doctors are the heart of healthcare for various reasons such as coordination of care for patients healthcare needs.
“Advocacy and education which will help patient to navigate the healthcare system and access the resources needed.
“Long term relationship by providing continuous and comprehensive care to patient throughout their lives,” Afolabi said.
He wished every member the best while discharging their duties.
The chairman said also that the year’s celebration was marked with various activities, such as health awareness campaign through media outlets, hospitals and lots more.
