…. Insist on Unity as the Best Defence against Terrorists
The Oodua Progressives (OP) Worldwide have reacted to the massacre of over 200 innocent lives in Yelewata in the Guma Local Government Council of Benue State, which necessitated a condolence visit by President Tinubu. Convener of the movement, Gbolahan Afolabi, called on the people of Benue to rise to the occasion and rally around the governor to confront these terrorists with a united front.
“What happened in Guma Local Government on that fateful night was unacceptable and totally condemnable. Mr President must use his office to bring the perpetrators to book. The group acknowledged the marching orders of the president as well as the state government’s efforts, insisting action must be matched with words to bring a realistic solution to this perennial insecurity that has bedevilled our people over the decades.”
“To the people of Benue State, this is the time to rally support around the governor and other leaders to confront the situation. This is not a moment of politics; political actors must heed the counsel of President Tinubu to dialogue in the best interest of the collective goal.” Mr President must be reminded that responsibility stops at his table, as state governments have no apparatus to confront this war before us.”
“We support the calls for the proscription of these evil herders as terrorist organization to put the world on alert,” Insisting that remained a necessary step towards reality. We also call on the people of Benue to reject ranching proposals aimed at putting the killers at an advantage over natives. “The government should focus on protecting the people rather than appeasing terrorists,” the group added.
“The Yoruba Group hailed the Chairman of Benue State Council of Chiefs, Prof James Ayatse, for his boldness in alerting the world to the genocide going on with his people.” The Tortiv is leading by example as he should, and it is a challenge for all his subjects to be fearless and sincere in the fight to secure their ancestral lands and protect the people.
