Young Sailors Shine At Children’s Day Celebration In Akwa Ibom

The Young Sailors of the Nigerian Navy Military School (NNMS), Ikot Ntuen, Akwa Ibom State, captivated the audience on Tuesday as they took center stage during the 2025 Children’s Day celebration at the Ibom Township Stadium in Uyo.

Clad in crisp camouflage uniforms and marching with precision, the NNMS young sailors impressed dignitaries, parents, and the public with a disciplined parade performance that embodied the values of patriotism, service, and youthful excellence.

This year’s celebration, held under the theme “Every Child, Every Right,” brought together hundreds of schoolchildren, youth groups, and cultural troupes from across the state in a colorful display of talent and unity. Yet, the presence of the NNMS young sailors stood out, drawing loud applause and admiration from the crowd as they executed their drills with military finesse and composure.

Their participation was more than ceremonial. It served as a powerful statement, demonstrating that courage, leadership, and national service are already being nurtured in Nigeria’s next generation.

Children’s Day, marked every May 27 across the country, is dedicated to honoring the rights and potential of Nigerian children. For the NNMS young sailors, it was a moment of pride and a public affirmation of their commitment to discipline and purpose.

As the parade concluded, cheers erupted across the stadium in appreciation of the performance by the young sailors. Observers described the display as inspiring and symbolic of the hope Nigeria holds in its youth.

The Nigerian Navy was commended for establishing and sustaining the military school, which continues to groom young Nigerians in character, competence, and leadership.

Indeed, the day belonged to the children—but the spotlight, without a doubt, belonged to the Young Sailors of NNMS.
