The Assistant Inspector General of Police overseeing Zone 2 Command, AIG Ari Muhammed Ali has directed Commissioners of Police in Lagos and Ogun States, Tactical Units, and officers within the zone to intensify security measures during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
According to a statement signed by the the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ayuba Tunni Umma, said AIG Ari Muhammed Ali also instructed the bolstering of security at various locations, including worship centers, shopping malls, tourist spots, markets, commercial hubs, social gatherings, residential areas, highways, motor parks, train stations, bus terminals, and critical national assets, alongside government and private properties.
“The directive aims to ensure the safety of residents and the smooth flow of traffic throughout the festive period, SP Umma said.
AIG Ali reassured the public, especially residents of Lagos and Ogun States, of their safety during the celebrations.
He emphasized the importance of vigilance and urged citizens to promptly report any suspicious activities that might compromise security.
He also reiterated the commitment of Zone 2 Command to ensuring maximum security throughout the yuletide season.
