As part of activities marking the 70th Anniversary of Women in Policing in Nigeria, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Victor Olaiya, psc(+), on Sunday hosted an interactive mentorship session bringing together retired female officers and serving women police personnel.
According to a press release signed by the Zone 7 Headquarters Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Halima Mohammed, he was represented at the event by the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration, ACP Labong Fidelia.
The engagement aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, whose leadership continues to champion gender inclusion, mentorship, and professional development within the Nigeria Police Force.
Retired senior officers, CSP Margaret Odiase and SP Naomi Isiaku, attended the event and held an inspiring dialogue with the serving women officers. They shared insights drawn from decades of service, offering guidance on career progression, discipline, emotional intelligence, and striking a balance between professional duties and family life.
Their stories, rich in resilience, commitment, and service, motivated participants and highlighted the longstanding contributions of women in the Nigeria Police Force over the past seven decades, spanning national security, peacekeeping, community policing, and administrative excellence.
Speaking on behalf of the AIG, ACP Labong Fidelia expressed appreciation to the retired officers for their continuous dedication to the Force. She said the session reflects the leadership’s commitment to honouring pioneering female officers while equipping today’s serving women with the knowledge and confidence to excel.
The event is one of several activities organised by Zone 7 to commemorate the 70-year milestone celebrating excellence, service, and the transformative role of women in policing across the country.
Zone 7 reaffirmed its commitment to supporting women in policing and promoting a safe, inclusive, and professionally driven environment across the FCT and Niger State Police Commands.
