……Prince Dapo Abiodun waives penalty for building without approval in Ogun for 30 days.
The World Habitat Day is marked annually on the first Monday in the month of October. The Ogun State government could not hold the event on Monday as it coincided with the national independence public holiday.
In the goodwill remarks of the president, Women Arise, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, she applauded the governor for his commitment to his administration’s “ISE YA” development agenda which gives priority to human beings and the environment. She stated that the mainstreaming of women budget replicates the focus of the World Habitat Day (WHD 2022) under the theme “Mind the Gap. Leave No One and Place Behind” while looking at the problem of growing inequality and challenges in cities and human settlements.
The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun highlighted his administration’s achievements on housing and infrastructural development, noting that the affordable housing units developed by his administration have surpassed previous ones developed by every other administration. He pledged his commitment to do more for the economic and social development of his people while announcing a 30-day waiver on penalty for building without approval while urging Ogun people to regularise their property development with the relevant agencies of government. He urged the people to endeavour to be involved in the forthcoming national census as it is critical to planning and development.
“World Habitat Day 2022 seeks to draw attention to the growing inequalities and vulnerabilities that have exacerbated by the triple ‘C’ crises — COVID-19, climate and conflict and we are developing policies and programmes that plug the gaps” he concluded.
He presented an award of recognition to the women’s rights advocate and development specialist, Dr Joe Odumakin in appreciation of her commitment to “leaving no one behind” in human rights development.
