…Vindicates Appointment of Prof. Owunari as UNIPORT VC describing it as divine, result of prayers of the saints
…Asks Wike to Recall How He was Imposed on the People and desist from assassinating characters of better Rivers citizens
Gov. Nyesom Wike, in his customary sense of foggy thinking, accompanied by disordered speech and hallucinations, has again leveled a bogus allegation against the Federal Government.
This time, he accused the Buhari-led FG of appointing Vice Chancellors that will assist the government in rigging the 2023 general elections in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Speaking on July 6, 2021, at the foundation laying ceremony for the construction of a 9,200-capacity Convocation arena in University of Port Harcourt, financed by the Rivers State Government, Gov. Wike, in a statement spiced with guile and gross fallacy, issued a threat to those INEC officials who would make themselves available as willing tools in the hands of political desperados to subvert the will of electorates.
According to the Governor, “_Let me warn, not one person will dare to rig Election in Rivers state, not one person will dare it, anybody who does that, you know it’s a coup and you know the punishment for that..”
Wike went further to state that only compromised academics, willing to submit names of politically exposed lecturers as returning officers to rig elections for the ruling party, are being appointed as Vice Chancellors of Federal universities. He vowed that those contemplating to rig elections in Rivers State would be treated as coup plotters.
Reacting to the Governor’s derisively mocking and sardonic comment, chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, said Wike’s extravagant comment and vile ranting is a tragic irony, as his catholic records of election thievery remain public and apparent to all.
In a statement made available to media houses in Port Harcourt, Eze said Gov. Wike is grossly guilty of his unfounded allegation against the APC-led federal government, noting that the ironic remark may have stemmed from the brooding embitterment occasioned by the failure of his preferred candidate for the office of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt.
The party Chief said his uncouth statement, no doubt, has further exposed to the public his satanic roles in the usurpation of democratic processes in the 2019 elections, within which period he still weighed big influence, having recently left the Ministry of Education as junior Minister, which position he may have used to influence the appointment of Vice Chancellors who played no mean roles in his imposition on Rivers people as Governor.
Absolving the All Progressives Congress of acts of electoral malpractices, Eze said Wike failed to understand that the APC led Federal Government under the watch of President Buhari strongly abhors electoral fraud and similar acts thus, the anti-corruption posture of the administration saw the APC losing elections in Edo, Zamafara, Adamawa and even Rivers State where records abound of money exchanging hands between Wike and INEC officials to distort the elections and pervert justice.
The widely published report of the Police recovering N114million from N360million used by Gov. Wike, to bribe Electoral Officers to announce cooked results on his favor, adds credence to Eze’s position.
Upon the release of such report and the failure to counter its authenticity, Eze said one would have loved to see Wike and those in his government resigning to avoid further engagements in fanfare of squander mania and allowing unfettered assessment into the summarily embarrassing, grossly messy and high-profile indictment against the Governor.
According to a report released by the Nigeria Police Force, about N114 million out of N360 million bribe for the 2016 bye-election results allegedly offered by the Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike to 23 staff members of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been recovered.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Joseph Egbonike, revealed this while appearing before the House of Representatives Ad hoc Committee on assessment and status of all recovered loots, movable and immovable assets from 2002 to 2020.
Eze maintained that Wike’s crude vents on the Federal Government over appointment of Vice Chancellors is vulgarly ostentatious and simply informs of the deteriorating level of his sense of cognitive orientation.
“Governor Nyesom Wike, knowing how he was narrowly rigged into office, would have saved himself the public odium by ignoring comments on issues pertaining to democracy and election, but as a dummkopf with the brains of a potato, who is brash to the point of arrogance and talks even when common sense would ordinarily demand silence, he laid bare his folly and made an open showdown his chucklehead”. Eze said.
Enlightening Gov. Wike on the emergence of Prof. Georgewill Owunari, Eze said his appointment as UNIPORT VC was a divine orchestration arising from good wishes and prayers of people of goodwill and predicated on his prediction contained in one of his widely published articles of September, 2019 titled, ‘Unique Uniport’s Future & Prof. Georgewill: Bird’s Eye Perspective By Close Observer”, where I clearly stated, “The fact remains that Prof. Georgewill currently stands out as one of the most experienced leaders in Uniport today and with over 14 years of senior management experience, University governance and boardroom experience, I feel with all sense of humility that Prof. Georgewill is the most experienced University leader currently and well qualified to be appointed as the next Vice Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt if merit still counts in our system”
He appealed to the new VC to close his ears to the smear campaigns of adversaries suffering from ill-being and deploy his energies and administrative prowess towards significantly improving the fortunes of students and staff of the university.
Furthermore, Eze described Prof. Georgewill as a leading light in public administration. According to him, Prof. Owunari Abraham Georgewill, KSC, FRSB London, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology, “is an erudite scholar, a revered and respected administrator, an Author of repute with a lot of publications to his credit described and an outstanding scholar; his vision and mission is to turn one of the greatest institutions in Nigeria, the University of Port Harcourt, situated in Rivers State, Nigeria, to one of the most viable and leading institutions in Africa.”
Commending the Federal Government, videlicet, the Minster of Education and Uniport Governing Council, for listening to good reasons and appointing the best to govern the Ivory Tower (Uniport) at this critical period, Eze offered a warm congratulation to Prof. Georgrewill Owunari, for his well deserved appointment and prayed for divine guidance on him, to direct the course of the institution to achieve lofty heights.
