The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun Oyetunji, has described the new Governor of Osun state, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke as a promise keeper, disclosing that the Governor has fulfilled one of the promises he made to the town within just four days of coming to office.

Oba Oyetunji disclosed on Friday at the Osogbo Central Mosque when Governor Adeleke attended the first summit service after he was sworn into office.

According to the monarch, Governor Adeleke approved the citing of an agency that will focus on manufacturing tractors in Osogbo, which he said the immediate past administration in the state frustrated.

“Governor Adeleke is fulfilling his promises to Osogbo already,” the prominent traditional ruler told the gathering, explaining that “Three days ago, he (Adeleke) signed the approval for the citing of an important agency, which will be involved in the manufacturing of tractors, to Osogbo.”

“This was something the past administration frustrated and when we tabled it before him (Adeleke) during campaign, he promised to ensure its realization and he has done that already. This is a good omen that he will be a good Governor to Osogbo and Osun people in general,” Oba Oyetunji stressed.

Speaking at the summit service, Governor Adeleke said he is starting his administration with God in line with his promise during the campaign, noting that God comes first in everything he does.

Governor Adeleke who expressed gratitude to God for giving victory at the poll and ensuring a successful inauguration said “While campaigning, I used to ask people to pray for me and I tell God that if I should be Governor, the first thing I will do is to show gratitude to God. That is exactly what I am doing here, to give thanks to Allah.”

Declaring his firm faith in God, Governor Adeleke said “I am your Governor by the grace of God,” adding that he will keep to the promises made during the campaign.

Governor Adeleke charged religious leaders to support his administration with prayers to succeed, reiterating his assurance that he will deliver good governance for the people of Osun state.

“This administration will be people-driven and work to make real impacts in the lives of citizens. All we can ask you, our religious leaders, is to support us with prayers and we will not disappoint you by God’s grace.”

In his speech earlier, the Imam of the Osogbo Central Mosque, Sheu Musa Rabiu Animashaun, said the emergence of Adeleke as the Governor of Osun State is the work of Allah, who decides leaders at every appointed time.

He commended Governor Adeleke’s tenacity and determination that eventually made his success possible, impressing the Governor to keep to promises he made with God and the people.

“You are a Governor today because you didn’t lose focus and I congratulate you for that. As your administration is taking off, I want to admonish you to keep to the promise you made to God especially regarding serving the people well. Also, do not forget the promises you made to people who stood by you on the road to the seat,” the cleric noted.

The Jummah service was attended by the Governor’s Chief of Staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Teslim Igbalaye, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Kolapo Alimi, a PDP chieftain, Alhaji Muniru Anisu, among other personalities.
