The Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 7 Command, AIG Adebowale Williams on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary, of Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola.
A statement on Monday, 3rd July 2023 signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Zone 7 Command, Abuja, DSP Mustapha B. Abdulkadir, said that the AlG was accompanied by Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Haruna G. Garba, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police Operations Zone 7 Command, DCP A. A Elleman. The AlG informed the permanent secretary of his arrival as the new Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7 Command and met with the Commissioner of Police FCT about the security situation in the FCT.
The AlG during the meeting said, “In line with the mission and vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, we are already working on the current crime trends in the FCT like Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Baban Bola (Scavengers), One-chance e.tc., the crimes have been analyzed and shall soon be brought to the barest minimum. We are henceforth going to be proactive, instead of reactive”.
He also called for Technology driven policing; the deployment of CCTV cameras in the jurisdiction where these crimes are rampant and the Divisional Police Officers monitor them.
The AlG solicited the maximum support and cooperation from the FCTA to sustain the prevailing peace and stability in the FCT.
The Permanent Secretary in his response, welcomed the AIG to the Federal Capital Territory and also promised to play his part in supporting the Police in the discharge of their duties. He made it known that the Federal Executive Council has been dissolved as such there is no minister for now, and urged the AlG to come for another meeting when a new Minister is appointed.
The Permanent Secretary appreciated the works of the Police in FCT, adding that the crime trends in the FCT range from Land Racketeering, Scavengers (Baban Bola), but the trend has reduced with the arrest of at least 15 Scavengers daily and fining them.

The meeting was concluded with an exchange of pleasantries and a group photograph to strengthen the already existing cordial relationship.
