APC National Chairmanship: Why I Won’t Hide My Support For Al-Makura – Engineer Sule

Nasarawa State governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, has given reasons why he will not hide his support for his predecessor, Senator Umaru Tanko Al-makura, to become the next national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Engineer Sule made this known when he hosted at the Lafia Government House, members of the Senator George Akume Contact Group, on Monday.

According to the governor, Senator Al-makura, who he refers to as a brother and mentor, has always been there for him, stressing that since it is now time for him to be there for his predecessor, he will be there for him.

Engineer Sule reiterated that he personally started on the campaign for the APC to zone the national chairmanship position to the North Central geopolitical zone, adding that it was during the party’s membership registration drive that he went public to campaign for Senator Al-makura to become the next national chairman of the APC.

“I can’t hide my support for somebody like Tanko Al-makura, who has always been there for me. When it’s time for me to be there for him, I will be there for him.

“It’s similar to what you are doing. Akume was there for you. He has supported each and everyone of you at one point or another. Today, you should not be shy to support this gentleman at every level,” he stated.

He emphasized that he has been campaigning for Senator Al-makura the become the next national chairman of the APC and has not stopped.

Engineer Sule however noted that, since Nasarawa and Benue states are one, he will be at home if either Al-makura or Akume becomes the national chairman.

“We will continue to pursue this position for the North Central, we will continue to look at the two states. We will stand with Nasarawa State. If it’s not then Benue State,” he said.

The governor described Senator Akume as a perfect gentleman who has stood firmly with his people in Benue State and who is willing to carry his people along.

Members of the Senator George Akume Contact Group, led by Senator Tilley Gyado, were at the Lafia Government House to solicit for the support of the governor towards the aspirations of their principal to become the next national chairman of the APC.
