APRA Expresses Condolences To Kenyans Amidst Mass Protests

The Executive Council and Members of the African Public Relations Association (APRA), the pan-African professional body for PR practitioners on the continent, have condoled with all Kenyans in general over the recent crisis that happened in the Republic of Kenya.

According to a press release signed by the Secretary-General, APRA, Omoniyi Ibietan said that the Association stand in solidarity with its colleagues in the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK).

“We urge the Government of Kenya to put the people of Kenya first and in a show of conversational capacity as already indicated by the Presidency, undertake stakeholder consultations with empathy and an openness to reconciliation.

“We commiserate with the families of those who died and wish a speedy recovery to those injured during the protests. We fervently pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased, the statement concluded

Recall that the Kenya Finance Bill protests are a series of ongoing decentralized mass protests in Kenya against a proposed tax increase by the Government of Kenya in Parliament. In May 2024, the Parliament proposed the “2024 Finance Bill”, which would mainly alter the tax system to pay off debt.
