Bayelsa 2023 Election: Moving Forward Or Retrogressing!

By Ebi Imomotimi

There is certainly no vacuum of leadership in Bayelsa State.

The people have moved beyond the era of Chief Timipre Sylva; a wasted 5 years in office! Bayelsans will certainly not return to Egypt!

Bayelsa now needs to choose between light and darkness; the leader of Famou Tangbe and a peaceful soul in Douye Diri, the incumbent governor.

The people of the Bayelsa Central and West Senatorial Districts would have to choose between a man, who has demonstrated a strong commitment to open up several riverine communities for economic growth and a man, Chief Sylva, who never showed interest in the senatorial roads when he served.

For the people of Bayelsa East Senatorial District, they are faced with an option to choose between their son, Sylva, who pointedly said the Nembe-Brass road had no economic value and the governor who flagged off the same road project for the economic prosperity of the people.

Timipre Sylva was governor between 2007 and 2012 and left huge debts behind.

The burden of baggage left behind is hanging on him and posterity will judge anyone supporting him to disturb the peace being enjoyed in the State.

This is 12 years after his messy administration and now, he is bragging that he has come to “mess” up the PDP.

A man with no electoral value beyond his Okpoama village in Brass Local Government Area is acting like a man on a revenge mission to destroy.

The results from the recently concluded 2023 general election point to how hugely PDP messed up Sylva and his APC where PDP recorded 80 percent electoral success.

PDP won the Presidential election, all 8 available National Assembly seats, and 17 of the 24 State House of Assembly seats.

Governor Douye Diri has made a strong showing with the 2023 election, a clear statement that APC breath not in Bayelsa State.

Timipre Sylva, the immediate past Minister of State for Petroleum needs to know that apart from Bayelsa State being a stronghold of PDP, the people have resolved to support all political moves of the incumbent governor, Douye Diri because of the much progress and peace achieved so far under his government.

Bayelsans have chosen progress to move forward than retrogression to move backward with Sylva.

The prosperity government is anchored on a solid rock fully backed with His grace.

The people have chosen continuity with Diri over the appeal by Sylva to repeat a class as governor.

Bayelsans say they are standing firmly with Douye Diri and Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo come November, this year.
