The Advanced Nigeria Democratic Party, ANDP, on whose petition, the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, sacked Governor Douye Diri, has distanced itself from the election petition.
The National Chairman of the party, Mr James Femowei, who stated this at a media briefing in Abuja, noted that, the ANDP , had earlier, endorsed Diri, and could not have filed the said petition.
He maintained that the ANDP and its National Working Committee, did not conduct any primaries in Bayelsa state, and as such, had no consensus candidate for the November 16, 2019, governorship poll.
The ANDP National Chairman, emphasized that, the said governorship candidate, Lucky George and his deputy, have since voluntarily withdrawn themselves from the suit.
Mr Femowei, further explained that, the purported National Chairman, Chief Charles Ogboli had since been expelled from the party over an alleged misconduct, thereby, had no right to sue on its behalf.
It would be noted that, on August 17, the election of Governor Douye Diri of the People’s Democratic Party, was nullified, over an alleged unlawful exclusion from the governorship poll by INEC, a petition, the National Executives of the ANDP, said, was never a party to.P
