The Deputy Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Michael Ogbere and other respected leaders of Ekeremor Local Government area have been lauded as progressive by a group, Bayelsa West Frontiers for Solidarity.
The group in a statement by its Convener, Comrade Odogu Kerike and the Spokesman, Mr Seibide Finine wondered why sons of Ekeremor whose voices were loudest in support of anti zoning, in the build up to the 2020 Bayelsa West Senatorial by-election are now being used to drum the zoning agitations by desperate power seekers.
They particularly extolled the Bayelsa State Deputy Speaker, Hon. Michael Ogbere for being progressive, having a clear understanding no zoning agreement has ever been followed through in the district and may never be therefore championing the zoning agreement as being advanced by some power driven elements from Ekeremor is an exercise in futility.
The group called on all promoting the zoning principle to look beyond the political gimmicks certain selfish politicians in the region are advancing. No election in the region including the 2020 by election has obeyed the zoning agreement and this position will not change.
The Bayelsa West Frontiers for Solidarity recalled that respected traditional rulers converged at Isampou in May 2020, with Mr. Stanley Braboke also in attendance as state political appointee from the area, to re-affirm zoning and equally cautioned against anyone from Ekeremor contesting for Senate of which Chief Ebebi, against all the advice and pleas contested and even proceeded to the courts, even up to the Supreme Court.
According to the group, “It beats any good sense of reasoning for anyone, seeing the quality of representation Bayelsa West Senatorial District now enjoys at the red chambers in the person of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, to desire anything less.
