…..Says alleged recovery is a misinformation
The Benue State Police Command has refuted reports that old Naira notes were discovered in Police Barracks Wadata, Makurdi.
According to a news statement issued on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022 by the Benue State Command Police Public Relations Officer, SP Anene Sewuese Catherine, police investigators dispatched to the location recovered wasted papers in a shop near the Wadata Police Barracks in Makurdi.
She further stated that the shop’s owner, Mr. Isah Suleiman, was invited for interrogation and presented a waste management licence provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Suleiman went on to say that these discarded papers are typically obtained from CBN and converted into mosquito repellents.
According to SP Anene Catherine, the probe has been extended to CBN for confirmation.
Recall that on Tuesday, 13th December 2022, information was received at A Police Division Makurdi, that hidden naira notes were recovered from Police Barracks Wadata.
