Coalition for A Better Nigeria Hails Ofo Ubulu Ihejiofo, Goodluck Obi

By Comrade Awa Bamiji

It looks so challenging, but it is a herculean task that must be performed by me amidst the tight schedule.

This period is a year of remembrance of our Comrade friends and the two foremost Rights Activists, Comrade Yinka Odumakin and Innocent Chukwuma, late Spokesman of Afenifere and Immediate past Country and West African Director of Ford Foundation and Founder, Cleen Foundation respectively. Both of them were your close friends too. As a megaphone for the Civil Societies’ Organiser of the joint and befitting burial ceremonies last year, time hardly permits me to divert my attention from continuous and adequate coordination of the cluster of our media Gurus for the purpose, at this moment, exactly midnight, when the mobilization has gotten to the peak but I repeat, we must give honour to whom honour is due.

A detribalised Nigerian, raised in the East, schooled in the West and served in the North.

In 2009, during the inauguration of this Group in FESTAC by Who’s is Who in the Nigerian Political and Civil Society Circles, you remained unwavering before, during and after the event till today.

You are among those credible individuals in Nigeria who always give me the courage to often confront the Oppressors with my lionheart and come out in flying colour to the admiration of the voiceless. You made me, AWA, a household name in Nigeria and diaspora.

When you people are surprised about my chain of successes in the democratic struggles through precarious adventure, I always thank God and record it for you people collectively because nobody is an Island.

You all made me who I am today AWA or We in English. The name, that no single man can arrogate to himself.

Therefore, on behalf of the millions of Human Rights’ Activists in Nigeria and diaspora today, to mention but a few of them, Prof Wole Soyinka, Barrister Femi Falana, SAN, Barrister Festus Keyamo, SAN, Barrister Wahab Shittu, Barrister Femi Aborisade, Mrs Ganiat Fawehinmi, Comrade Kudirat Abiola  – Costello, Mrs Ayo Obe, Senator Shehu Sani, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, Alhaji Waheed Lawal, Comrade Olawale Okunniyi, Comrade Femi Obayori, Comrade Shina Loremikan, Comrade Jubril Ogundimu, Iba Gani Adams, Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Comrade Moshood Erubami, Dr Balogun P.A, Dr Joe Okei – Odumakin, Ms Yemisi Ransome Kuti, Dayo Ogunlana, Comrades Segun Mayegun, Nike Ransome – Kuti, Comrade Rasaq Olokooba, Solomon Somade, Ayo Adewale, Valentine Buraimoh, Debo Adeniran, Segun Aka – Bashorun, Dr Cole Omojola, Ibrahim Musa, Dauda Alimi, Lanleyin Olasunkanmi, Pastor Banji Ajayi, Pastor Samson Olayiwola, Dapo Ola – Oni, Omoyele Sowore, Della Alfred Ilenre (USA), NADECO (USA), Dayo Olorunnisola (Canada), Wale Balogun, Alhaji Toyin Raheem, Bright Ezeocha of Igbo Youth Council, Alhaji Yerima Shettima of Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, I say Happy Birthday to our good friend, our Royal Ambassador and global Pride of the Civil Societies, as the World celebrates you today.
